Lanmark works with and supplies the major manufacturer server and workstation anti-virus solutions such as:
• Sophos • Symantec Norton Enterprise • Mcafee AVD • Trend • Computer Associates
Anti-virus systems can be broken down into two categories:
Server and workstation anti-virus
• These are designed to protect against file born viruses with contamination generally coming from
CDs, floppy disks or internet based worms.
Email Anti-Virus
• Because the overwhelming proportion of viruses are spread using email it is no surprise that this
has become the most significant part of Anti-Virus defence.
Because virus proliferation is generally via email system it is important to understand the importance of multi engine scanning systems and heuristic scanners. There is no one anti-virus manufacturer that is better than another as their response to a new outbreak can be dependent on their engineers. Sometimes one company will have the cure before another. That is why multiple engines dramatically reduce your risk to exposure.
There are currently two types of email anti-virus available and Lanmark only recommend systems that have both multiple scanning engines and heuristic scanners.
Server based
• Off the shelf, packaged email anti-virus applications residing on your email server.
Hosted service
• Subscription based service whereby emails are scanned externally before they reach your server.
Both of these solutions have their merits and can even work in conjunction with each other but for more information or a free consultation please call our sales team on 0800 804 8776.
Nearly everyone has a firewall but they are not all created equal. If your Microsoft Exchange server is published across the Internet, only a handful of firewalls can protect it.
Are you worried that your systems can be penetrated by unwanted visitors?
Are you worried that you don't know if the business would survive a major incident even though you have an IT systems disaster recovery plan
Do you require help defining your I.T. strategy, choosing appropriate technologies, procurement, custom configuration, project management or system implementation?
