Remote Access
Definition of Thin Client Technology
Thin Client Technology/Computing enables almost any computer to access
Microsoft Windows based applications and Unix based applications from any
Web Browser over the Internet or a corporate Intranet, without having to
install the application on every desktop system. In Thin Client Computing,
applications are installed and reside on a central server or group of
servers. All of the applications' processing is performed on the server
and not the desktop system. This means that only the screen, keyboard and
mouse information are passed to the client desktop system - as if you were
remotely controlling a Windows session on the server.
Why Thin Client Technol
Thin Client technology can provide organisations with a cost-effective, reduced maintenance desktop alternative to traditional desktop PCs. By encompassing this technology, businesses can extend access of 32bit Windows applications to Windows-based terminals, UNIX / Apple Mac workstations, legacy desktops and remote Win32®-based desktops/laptops. As an integrated solution, Windows 2003 server in conjunction with Citrix Presentation Server or Access Suite can be used in a variety of applications.
